Gabbiadini Is Off To A Good Start With Southampton

Newly acquired centre-forward, Manolo Gabbiadini, has scored 3 goals in his first 2 games with Southampton.  He scored one goal in his debut on February 4th in a 3-1 loss to West Ham and he scored twice today in a 4-0 win against Sunderland.

Southampton acquired Gabbiadini from Napoli on January 31st for €17 Million.  Gabbiadini was never able to become a regular starter in Napoli, who acquired him during the 2014-15 season.  During his stay with Napoli, he scored 13 goals in 56 Serie A games but he only started 19 of those games.

When he left Napoli, Gabbiadini thanked the club and its fans for their support and he also responded to his critics who claimed that he lacked personality and didn’t have what it takes to deal with the pressure of being on a big team.  Gabbiadini calmly pointed to his stats, which indicate that he scored 25 goals in 3119 minutes for Napoli, in all competitions.  That works out to 1 goal in every 124 minutes.

Here are Gabbiadini’s 2 goals against Sunderland.
